Our Story
At Pen & Cob Farm, we like to say that farming is a perpetual "work-in-progress." It involves continuously adapting, envisioning, and putting in the hard work. As we embark on our fifth year, we can confidently express that no other endeavor has tested us as much mentally, physically, and emotionally. Nevertheless, every day brings immense gratitude for the incredibly rewarding life we lead.
We are most inspired by our land and what grows locally. Foraging has brought so many new flavors into our lives. There is an abundance of food growing all around us that drives our commitment to Flavor, Quality and Uniqueness.
We never skimp on ingredients. We don’t just want a strawberry, we want a field ripened, locally grown, just picked yesterday, Mara des Bois or Sparkle strawberry. If the best is available, then we want to create with the best.
We want our brand and our products to be a reflection of our region. Local ingredients are the heart of our products and whether you live Downeast or elsewhere, everyone should be able to taste all the amazing things we are so lucky to have here.
Pen & Cob's vision is to continue building in a way that represents this area and supports the hyper-local agricultural community. For now, that means annual production will be limited based on what is harvested and source ingredients globally when they cannot be made or grown in Maine (mustard essential oil from India, sugar).
Our goals are to hire locally as we expand and showcase the quality offerings of local craftspeople and business using local materials that align with this vision.
We hope that you experience in every product you're tasted from our farm, and every interaction you've had with our team and family.
